Trees need nourishment

In the warm weather your trees will become thirsty more often.  Here are some tips for keeping your street trees happy.

  • They will need 10-15 gallons of water per week during hot weather.
  • A hose set to a slow flow and placed at the base of the tree for about one hour once a week is the best way.
  • The trees will get the proper nutrients from the fertilizer that is applied to the grass.
  • If you feel your tree needs more,  it is best to use a fertilizer spike.

Keeping the bark in tact
We are seeing damage to the bark at the base of the trees. Dinged up bark can hurt the health of your tree.

Be careful with the weed whacker and mower.  Damaging the bark is a sure way to condem any tree to a slow death.

Enjoy your upcoming spring and summer days!
